When “racist” is an overused word

Questions I’m pondering at the moment:

How do you define a racist?

How do you define racism?

What would you say is the difference between racism and discrimination?

What’s reverse racism? 

Words like ‘racist’ and ‘racism’ are bandied around very easily these days – to the point where they start to lose meaning. So I’m interested in how other people define them…

There is no such thing as ‘reverse racism’ racism is racism. Discriminating against someone else based on nationality, height , sexuality, color, or creed!

A ‘writer’ who defines themselves as a writer about race is probably going to over-egg the word racist by about a 1000-1.

Otherwise they are just going to be left with their own skills.

And if they had any, they would never have defined themselves that way in the first place.

You think Brendan Behan, James Joyce and Samuel Beckett didn’t get anti-Irish stuff in their lives?

Course they did sister.

Did it make for the navel they stared at?

No.
